Senior Strength Class: Move Better, Feel Stronger with Chantal

2 seniors improving strength with resistance bands
Hello from Coach Chantal

If you're looking to improve your strength, coming back to exercise, recovering from injury, or simply want to feel stronger, steadier, and more confident in your body - this class is for you. Strength and conditioning with Chantal runs at 11- 11:50 am every Monday at Hampton Community Centre is the perfect way to start your week.

Designed to be safe, low-impact, and welcoming, it’s a gentle yet powerful way to regain strength and mobility at any age or stage.

Resistance Training with a Difference

Each week, Chantal leads a friendly group class specifically tailored for seniors, those coming back to exercise from injury and beginners.

Whether you're managing arthritis, osteoporosis, or coming back from an injury, you’ll be supported every step of the way.

This is a movement class that’s practical and effective - no floor work, no fancy gear. Just resistance bands, hand weights and leg weights, and chair-supported options to help you gradually rebuild your strength, including your core, which is key for balance, posture, and stability.

Each session includes:

  • A guided warm-up to get your joints moving

  • 45 minutes of low-impact strength and conditioning using resistance bands, hand and leg weights, and a choice of standing or chair-based exercises

  • A focus on building overall strength, including core muscles, to support daily movement and prevent falls

  • A relaxing 5-minute mindfulness and meditation to finish

Find out how Strength-Based Training can help with Osteoporosis & Sarcopenia

As we age, two silent health risks become more common:

  1. Osteoporosis – a reduction in bone density that increases the risk of fractures

  2. Sarcopenia – the gradual loss of muscle mass and strength

But the right kind of movement makes all the difference. Resistance training helps:

  • Increase bone density and muscle tone

  • Improve balance and reduce fall risk

  • Strengthen the core for better stability and posture

  • Support recovery from injuries or surgeries

  • Make everyday tasks easier — from walking to gardening

  • Boost energy, mood, and mental clarity

No Experience? No Problem?

You don’t need to be fit or flexible to start — you just need to show up. Chantal’s classes are all about meeting you where you’re at, with plenty of modifications and gentle encouragement. Whether seated or standing, you’ll find safe, effective ways to move your body and rebuild confidence.

Feel Stronger. Move Freer. Live Better.

Chantal is passionate about helping people move better for longer. Her supportive teaching style and focus on functional movement mean you’ll always feel seen, supported, and never left behind. Come join a class and discover how small movements with hand weights, leg weights, and a strong core focus can make a big difference in your strength and independence.

It’s never too late to start - your future self will thank you.
